Lumecca Super Hair Removal uses intense pulsed light (IPL) from the InMode Lumecca handpiece to reduce unwanted hair. Each flash carries a broad band of filtered light, from around 515 or 580nm up to 1200nm. Dark pigment in the hair absorbs it as heat, which travels down to the follicle and weakens its ability to regrow.
A cooled tip rests on the skin with every pulse, protecting the surface while the energy works below. Light only reaches follicles in their growing phase, so hair thins gradually over a course.
For the face, underarms, arms, legs and bikini line, it is a quieter route away from the razor.
It starts with a consultation on your skin tone, hair colour and the areas to treat. Your doctor then sets the IPL filter and energy to match. The area to be treated is shaved prior to treatment. Numbing cream can be used on more sensitive spots.
During the procedure: Eye shields go on and cool gel is spread over the area. The Lumecca tip is then pressed to the skin one section at a time, releasing a flash with each pulse.
Treatment sensation: Many feel a quick elastic-band snap and a brief wave of warmth, softened by the cooled tip.
Smaller areas like the upper lip take around 15 minutes, while larger areas such as the legs can take up to 45.
Sessions needed: Usually around 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, so each one catches a new wave of growing hair. Your doctor will tailor the plan to your hair and skin.
Results Timeline: Treated hairs often shed in the days or weeks after a session. With each visit, regrowth tends to return slower, finer and sparser.
Maintenance: Hormonal changes and recovering follicles can bring back some growth, so occasional top-ups help.

You can usually resume your day right away. The skin may look pink or feel warm, like a mild sunburn, which often settles within hours to a couple of days. You may have raised bumps immediately following the laser although this settles within hours to a day.
Aftercare tips:
- Keep the area out of the sun and apply SPF daily
- Shave between sessions if needed, but skip waxing, plucking and threading so the light has a follicle to reach
- Use gentle, soothing skincare while the skin feels warm
- Follow the aftercare notes provided after your treatment
- Attend your follow-up review so your doctor can check your progress
