Wrinkles & Fine Lines

What are Wrinkles & Fine Lines?
Fine lines are shallow marks in the skin's surface. Wrinkles are deeper folds. Both can show on the forehead, around the eyes, along the smile lines and at the corners of the mouth. Fine lines can start in the late twenties, and deeper wrinkles usually build up over the years.
Some lines only appear when you frown, squint or smile. Others stay visible when your face is relaxed. Which type you have shapes the treatment plan, and treatment can help soften both.

What Causes Wrinkles & Fine Lines
Lines come in two types. Dynamic lines form from repeated muscle movement. Static lines are there at rest, as the skin loses firmness. Wrinkles & Fine Lines can come from a range of factors, including:
- Natural ageing: Over the years the skin produces steadily less collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which leaves it thinner and less springy.
- Sun exposure: UV light breaks down collagen and speeds up visible ageing.
- Repeated facial movements: Frowning, squinting and smiling crease the same spots again and again.
- Smoking: Nicotine reduces blood flow to the skin and can hasten collagen breakdown.
- Environment: Pollution and blue light may add to premature ageing.
- Sleep, stress and diet: Poor rest, chronic stress and dehydration can affect how well skin repairs itself.
Treatments for Wrinkles & Fine Lines at ARTÉ
The right plan depends on the type of line, your anatomy and your goals. It starts with a consultation with Dr. Michelle.
Botulinum Toxin
Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the muscles behind frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, so the skin above softens and smooths. It suits dynamic lines, the ones that show when you frown, squint or lift your brows. Starting early can help keep them from setting in, and the treatment can be repeated every 3-4 months.
Skin Tox
Skin Tox places tiny droplets of diluted toxin into the skin itself, not the muscle. It can soften fine lines and refine skin texture, and because the muscles are left alone, your expressions stay natural. It suits anyone who wants a smoother, more polished finish without any change in how their face moves.
Dermalift
Dermalift uses a hyper-diluted toxin injected just beneath the skin surface, often across the jawline and neck. It softens fine lines and gives a subtle, natural lift, leaving skin feeling firmer and fresher. It suits early signs of laxity and anyone who prefers gradual, understated change.
Dermal Fillers
Fillers are injectable gels, mostly hyaluronic acid based, placed beneath the skin to restore volume and smooth lines. After careful assessment, they are placed where volume is deficient, addressing hollow regions and even lifting depending on the technique used. Results show straight away, and hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if needed.
Lip Fillers
Lip fillers are mainly known for volume, but careful placement around the lips can also soften the fine lines that form around the mouth, sometimes called smoker's lines. The same visit can address definition and symmetry if you would like, with everything kept in proportion to the rest of your face.
Under-Eye Fillers
Under-eye fillers restore volume in the tear trough, the hollow that runs from the lower eyelid into the cheek, softening shadows for a more rested look. Collagen-based options are designed for this delicate area and can also improve fine lines there. They suit hollowing caused by volume loss, and Dr. Michelle will say if another option would suit you better.
Ultherapy PRIME
Ultherapy PRIME uses micro-focused ultrasound with real-time imaging to deliver energy at set depths, prompting new collagen over the following months. Its shallowest setting targets fine lines in thinner skin, such as the forehead and around the eyes and mouth, while deeper settings firm and lift. Downtime is minimal.
InMode Forma
InMode Forma uses gentle bipolar radiofrequency heat, with built-in sensors monitoring skin temperature, to stimulate collagen and elastin. Loose areas tighten and fine lines smooth out gradually over a course of sessions. Many people compare the warmth to a massage, and can return to almost all their usual activities right afterwards.
Morpheus8
Morpheus8 pairs ultra-fine microneedles with radiofrequency energy to reach the deeper layers where collagen lives, setting off the skin's healing response. Over a course of sessions, fine lines and wrinkles can appear softer and texture smoother. It suits skin that has plateaued with skincare and needs deeper remodelling. Some pinkness afterwards is common.
PDO Collagen Skinbooster
PDO Collagen Skinbooster places tiny polydioxanone microspheres just under the skin's surface, aiming to prompt your own collagen production. Texture, pores and fine lines improve gradually, leaving skin that looks firmer and bouncier without added volume. It suits early signs of ageing or uneven texture, with minimal downtime.
ECM Skinbooster
ECM Skinbooster delivers collagen and elastin components, drawn from human skin matrix, directly into the skin. The aim is a denser skin structure with better firmness and smoother texture, which can help fine lines look less pronounced. It also suits skin that is sensitive or has a weakened barrier.
Dr. M Formula
Dr. M Formula is a skin booster that blends hyaluronic acid with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants to hydrate and revive tired, dull skin. Hydration and glow are often noticeable early on, and fine lines can look smoother as results build over a few weeks. It suits anyone who wants more than hyaluronic acid alone.
Possible side effects: Mild swelling, redness or bruising can occur and usually settles. A consultation is needed first, and results vary from person to person.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can wrinkles be reversed?
Some lines may not disappear completely, but their appearance can often be improved. Treatments that relax muscles, restore volume and build collagen work in different ways, so plans often combine them.
When should I start treating wrinkles?
Some people begin in their late twenties or early thirties to keep expression lines from setting in. Others start later on lines that are already established. Dr. Michelle can advise what is suitable for you.
Will I look frozen or overdone?
That is not the aim. Dr. Michelle treats conservatively, keeping natural movement and balance, so the result looks like you, only more rested.
Is there downtime?
Many of these options need little or no time off. Redness or swelling from injections usually settles quickly, while laser resurfacing needs longer to heal.
