Cheek Fillers
Lift Starts at the Cheekbone.
Cheek fillers rebuild the midface, an area that often loses fullness early as we age. A hyaluronic acid (HA) gel sits deep over the cheekbone, where it adds volume and support straight away.
HA is a molecule found naturally within your body and one of its functions in the skin is to hold moisture. For the cheeks, a firmer, lifting-grade gel is chosen so it can carry the tissue above it. As the cheek regains its curve, the skin over the laugh lines is drawn gently upwards and the shadow under the eyes can soften. The gel breaks down slowly over time.
For flattened cheeks, a tired midface and a softer cheekbone line, it gives the face its high point back.
Your consultation begins with a look at your face from the front and in profile: bone structure, the cheek fat pads, skin quality and overall balance. Your doctor then decides where support is needed, whether the apple of the cheek, the cheekbone or the area beside the nose. Numbing cream goes on first to keep you comfortable.
During the procedure:
A needle suits precise, targeted placement, especially for deeper structural support. A cannula can spread filler more broadly and evenly through fewer entry points. Many treatments combine both, depending on your anatomy and the result you want. Symmetry is checked as each side builds.
Treatment sensation:
A sense of pressure and fullness is typical, with brief pricks where the needle or cannula enters.
Once numb, the injections take around 15 to 30 minutes.
Sessions needed: Usually one session. A small top-up may be suggested at review once swelling has settled, depending on how your cheeks respond.
Results Timeline: The lift is visible as you leave. The cheeks then settle into their final shape over the next 1 to 2 weeks.
Maintenance: The cheeks are a low-movement area, so HA filler here tends to last longer than in the lips. Results often last around 12 months, sometimes longer, and your doctor will advise when a refresh is worthwhile.
Support placed where the face first softens, and the midface follows.
You can go straight back to work or your plans. Swelling, tenderness and the odd bruise are common and generally settle quickly, often within days.
Aftercare tips:
- Keep hands off the cheeks: no pressing or massage unless your doctor advises it
- Sleep on your back at first rather than on the treated cheek
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol and saunas for the rest of the day
- Follow the aftercare notes provided after your treatment
- Attend your follow-up review so your doctor can check your progress
- Fuller cheeks where volume has flattened
- A lifted, better-supported midface
- More defined cheekbones and facial contour
- Softer-looking laugh lines (nasolabial folds)
- A fresher transition between the under-eye and cheek
When will I see results? You will see the lift right away. It usually looks fully natural within 1 to 2 weeks, once swelling eases.
Cheek Fillers are ideal for individuals who:
- Notice their cheeks flattening, or have low cheekbones
- See the midface sagging or laugh lines deepening
- Want more definition or a softer, V-shaped facial outline
- Look tired around the eyes because the cheek has lost its support
